Strada Car Meet | June 2, 2015
Canadian Tire – Rutherford Road
Vaughan, Ontario, Canada
June 2, 2015
As the second car meet for the newly formed “Stada” organization, things kicked off in high spirits. Located at the Canadian Tire on Rutherford Road in Vaughan, hundreds of cars began to gather at the parking lot as the sun set. It has been a long time since a group organized a proper meet welcoming all makes / models and without incident.
The first thing noticed upon entering the lot was this pack of Porsches ranging from old school to the latest 991 generation. Adding to such, the atmosphere was unlike any other car meet I’ve ever attended – it was… peaceful. There were no idiots revving their engines or smoke shows, just an assortment of cars and people hanging out the way it should be.
The Honda S2000 has recently become a popular platform to tweak, now that prices have dropped to an affordable range. This fine specimen is sporting a rare J’s Racing Type S aero kit and slammed, making the small coupe look even better!
No meet could be complete without spotting a few Nissan S-chassis rides like this drift-friendly S14. Despite the car being 20+ years old, it still looks great.
Parked near the front of the Canadian Tire was a pack of C63 AMG Mercs, including this camo-wrapped beast. To some the exterior might be considered blasphemy especially as German car enthusiasts prefer to take the simple-elegant approach when modifying, this obviously wasn’t the case with this project.
This boss of a car Audi A8L was a jaw dropper. The look when fitted with the massive and concave Rohana RC10 rollers is spot on perfect. A touch of class and a sprinkle of gangster-status.
One of the main cars lined up at the front entrance of the Canadian Tire was this modified Mustang Cobra. From far it might look like just another 5.0-liter, but take a closer look and it’s clear to see that there’s probably a massive supercharger under that hood!
This mysterious Datsun Z keeps popping up everywhere across the city and it truly is exceptionally built, considering it was most likely in rough shape as all Datsun’s are. It’s the truth.
Parked in the gas station area of the lot were a pair of Mk4 Supras, one USDM and the other a JDM version. No matter how time passes by, the Supra will always be a timeless design and one of the unicorns to own amongst tuner-car collectors.
There is something to be said about the Kouki version of the Nissan 240SX (S14). As if the aggressive lines aren’t enough to draw on-lookers, the ultra rare rollers might do the thing – it worked for me alright. These wheels are known as the Super Advan Racing Ver. 2 or “3-spoke Advan” as some call it. Just like the Kardashians, these wheels have a long-standing love-hate battle amongst fans.
By midnight, the lot began to clear out as per usual, but again without any incidents. This just goes to show that car meets can be organized and remain fairly calm with the right people in place. Furthermore, if it isn’t obvious by now, car enthusiasts are walking a thin line in way of property managers granting the use of their space and strict police enforcement. Thankfully, it seems that the universal notion of “respect those around you” is starting to make sense for the community and as a result, no issues this time around. Kudos go out to the Strada crew and all car fans for a great gathering!
