MegaSpeed Custom Car & Truck Show 2012
Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
March 9-11, 2012
Held at the International Center in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, the MegaSpeed Custom Car & Truck Show kicked off its inaugural year replacing the now defunct Performance World event. As expected, the show would encompass the very best of all things automotive ranging from classics and hot rods to the modern in the tuner hall out back. This show has acted as the unofficial launch for the car show season in Canada throughout the years and by the looks of things, it seems that the ball is in full motion. Surely certain vehicles missed out on the showcase due to still being under the knife, but what was on display included an assortment of mild to wild, enough to make any gear head drool. Here’s a little teaser in part 1 of our multi-part coverage, so be sure to check back all week long!
Any Chevy Impala fans around? This black convertible packed a twin turbo engine and air ride suspension. If the king of Impala’s Snoop Dogg was in town, I’m sure he’d approve.
Back in the day when automotive design was done by hand and not computer, Ford released this Cabriolet. This ’37 model had immaculate black paint and the signature low stance.
A rare sight at any event is that of all-our race car, but that’s never the case with MegaSpeed. Encompassing all things automotive, MegaSpeed had a few of these drag cars scattered about like this orange Pontiac top fuel car from Grubb Racing.
What does one do when their 5.0-liter V8 Mustang isn’t enough? The decision is simple. toss in a GM LS-engine paired to a supercharger and hold on tight. This LSX Pony has #WINNING written all over it!
This ‘Bad Vibe’ custom looks great with its slow stance and gangster appeal – this is what I call the stance movement! Unfortunately, like many of our readers I’m not a fan of the wheel choice as it is far too modern for the overall look. Something in a more matte finish and less rap star SUV would do wonders!
BATMAN also showed up to put his old ride on display – BAT CAVE not included. This is one of the many theme cars that were scattered throughout the show, something for everyone!
This two-tone muscle car had everyone standing around with their jaws on the floor. The fit and finish is perfect as well as the unique colour combination – a deep rootbeer with a dark burnt orange.
The NextMod crew had a nice display consisting of their R35 GT-R and Subaru STi. It’s a tough choice between the pair, regardless both are awesome vehicles and breathed in some fresh tech air into the 2nd hall where most of the classics were parked.
If you’ve seen The Green Hornet movie then I’m sure you recognize this car called “The Black Beauty.” The car is a 1965 Chrysler Imperial Crown and outfitted with machine guns (paintball ones of course), missiles, and spikes on the rims. We’ll be doing a little theme-based spotlight on this awesome movie car in the comings days, so stay tuned!
This Fiat 500 Abarth is the real deal dating back decades, but still rocking the Italian tri-colore of red, white, and green! What’s not to love about this little car complete with a flawless gunmetal paint job and seriously wide fenders.
Stay tuned all week long for the multi-part event coverage including spotlights of some of our favorite vehicles!
