Once again, the crew at KPlayground.ca held yet another track day event although this time at the world renown Mosport International Raceway. The lapping day began like most with a quick meetup at a local coffee shop before a 45-minute cruise eastbound to Bowmanville, Ontario. Once at the track, friends were reacquainted and cars immediately went on jacks for tire swaps.
Before anyone could get onto the track, the “sign your life here” release form had to be filled out – everyone’s gotta do it, even if you have a cool Dragon Ball Z hair cut! LOL!
A common site at any track day – spare rim and tires, essential tools and a pair of driving shoes switched from comfy runners.
A little Krispy Kreme breakfast donut anyone? Mmm… Donut… Mmm…
The crew from Kensai Racing showed up complete with three road / track-ready cars (8th Gen Honda Civic Si, Acura RSX and Integra Type-R DC2) for some test n’ tune laps. All three cars not only attracted much attention, but insanely quick lap times for FF-platform vehicles. It was good to see the K-squad out in full force! (Ya, I said it… K-squad! LOL)
Some American muscle showing that despite the short nature of the Mosport DDT track, it can still hold its own and look good doing it. It is always nice to see the “out of the norm” cars on lapping days, KUDOS to the Corvette owner / driver!
This ubber rare Corvette ZR-1 was spotted in the paddock area. Unfortunately, the owner didn’t get it onto the track for all to admire… what a shame!
Pat Cyr from the Drift Posse team was doing some shake down runs on the Mosport DDT track until he was asked off the track and he gladly obliged! Cyr’s AE86 although odd looking with the missing front and rear bumpers was killing it around the corners and getting spectators all rowdy.
The beauty of a track day like this is that there are no limits as to how many times one can go out lapping allowing for fine tuning of the suspension and other go-fast bits.
The Focal Point Concepts guys were hunting each other down lap after lap – battle of the K-series? Where’s your money on? The Integra or the Civic?
The only casualty of the day was a Civic hatchback that had broken down mid-track. Although the issue was never announced, it seemed that it could have been a minor electrical bug. Thankfully, anyone who could get onto the track was willing to help push it onto the trailer – that is what team work is about!
Dave Tsai of ImportExpo.ca was shaking down his JDM-converted RSX / Integra and looking fast as ever. Unfortunately, due to the cold weather conditions in the morning Tsai was having traction issues and couldn’t lay down the power he wanted. Be sure to check out the ImportExpo.ca site for the upcoming show date – if you like cars, this is a must-go show!
A beautifully clean Civic hatchback doing steady lap times and improving throughout the day, including chasing down the big bad Corvette! 4-cylinder vs. 8-cylinder?
This is what happens when you lose a bet at a track day… joking! Hmm… Caption this photo, anyone? *Post your comments below*
The only thing that anyone truly needs for a fulfilled track day – a pair of driving shoes and helmet = all business!
Another great KPlayground.ca track day under the belt and more to come this season, so be sure to stay tuned. For more information on how you can shake off the cobwebs visit the KPlayground.ca website and get involved! Many thanks to Ken (KPlayground.ca) and the crew for inviting AMF out and showing support!
